STUDENTS from 34 schools will be better equipped on the football field after receiving a grant from the West Australian Football Commission.

Jumper grants were awarded to 22 schools across Western Australia as part of the WAFC’s Resource Assistance Scheme to purchase a new set of jumpers from Burley Sekem.

Six schools, including O’Connor Primary School in Kalgoorlie, also received a grant for goal post padding, while another six received a $1000 subsidy for new goal posts.

To be eligible for resource assistance the school was required to have a AFL School Ambassador and participate in football competitions of at least four weeks in duration during the year.

The grants are awarded on the basis that it will lead to a potential growth in participation.

WAFC Schools Manager David Lindsay said it was great that the WAFC could help better equip schools.
