AFL Draft

NAB AFL DRAFT

The NAB AFL Draft is conducted on an annual basis in Melbourne.

Players who wish to be eligible for the NAB AFL Draft are required to nominate. The website which explains this process can be found at www.nabafldraftnom.com.au

NAB AFL DRAFT AGE

In order to be eligible for the NAB AFL Draft, players must have attained, or will attain the age of 18 years, on or before December 31, in the year of draft.

NAB AFL DRAFT CAMP

The NAB AFL Draft camp is conducted in the lead up to the NAB AFL Draft and involves invited players being put through a range of physical, mental and psycho motor tests, along with individual interviews with AFL clubs. It is conducted at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.

Players are invited to attend the NAB AFL Draft Camp based on nominations from AFL clubs. If a player is nominated by more than 5 clubs, he is then invited to participate in the NAB AFL Draft Camp.

The WA Football Commission conducts practice sessions for those players invited to the NAB AFL Draft Camp, so that they are familiar with the tests they will be experiencing in Canberra.

WA STATE SCREENING

The WA State Screening is also conducted prior to the NAB AFL Draft and involves a similar range of tests that are undertaken at the NAB AFL Draft Camp. It is conducted at the University of Western Australia.

Again, players are nominated based on nominations from AFL clubs. If a player is nominated by between 1 – 4 clubs, he is invited to participate in the WA State Screening.

The WA Football Commission conducts practice sessions for those players invited to the WA State Screening, so that they are familiar with the tests they will be experiencing at UWA.
