SUBIACO 8.12 (60) defeated SOUTH FREMANTLE 2.1 (13)
Subiaco and South Fremantle have already met in some fascinating WAFLW match ups and Saturday at Leederville Oval shaped as another with the two teams attempting to stay in the top four race.
South Fremantle came into the game on the back of winning consecutive matches for the first ever time in the WAFLW history. That included a win against Subiaco back in Round 8 at Fremantle Community Bank Oval and then a win a week later against West Perth.
The Bulldogs then had the bye last weekend with Subiaco losing to Claremont but it was an improved showing from the Lions only losing to the second placed team by 13 points at Revo Fitness Stadium.
Subiaco then produced what was likely their best performance of the 2022 season on Saturday on their home turf to keep their finals prospects alive.
Subiaco dominated the opening quarter with five scoring shots to just one from South Fremantle but they only converted that into one goal and led by just nine points at quarter-time.
The Lions maintained their control in the second term with another five scoring shots to nil. This time they kicked two goals and as a result went into the half-time break leading by 24 points.
South Fremantle wasn’t giving up on the prospect of winning a third straight match just yet, though, and kicked the only two goals of the third quarter to cut the three quarter-time deficit to just 14 points.
The Lions were able to assume back control in the term and kick five goals while holding the Bulldogs scoreless with the 8.12 (60) to 2.1 (13) victory.

WEST PERTH 2.3 (15) lost to SWAN DISTRICTS 10.8 (68)
Swan Districts needed to bounce back from a couple of losses to the top two teams and they were able to exactly that against West Perth on Sunday at Joondalup's Pentanet Stadium.
Swans found themselves looking a little vulnerable inside the top four with the four wins on the season after the losses in their past two matches against East Fremantle and Claremont.

Swans pulled away further with another two goals in the third quarter and again hold West Perth scoreless to see the lead grow to 51 points at the last change.
