White claims Mundella WAWFL Fairest and Best

Coastal Titans Football Club player Jodie White was announced the winner of the Mundella WA Women’s Football League’s Dhara Kerr Fairest and Best during the 2017 Medal Presentation Night on Monday, August 14.

It was the 36-year-old’s first Mundella WAWFL Fairest and Best award, after having played for the Titans since the club’s inception in 2004.

Coastal Titans Reserves player Melissa Lim was awarded the Reserves Fairest and Best, with 20 votes for the season, six clear of second placed Jasmine Calgaret (Perth Angels).

The inaugural Rogers Cup Fairest and Best award was won by Abbey Dowrick, also from Coastal Titans. With a tally of 26 votes, Abbey was well ahead of her chasing opponents, with second place finishing in a three-way tie between Mikayla Morrison from East Perth, Nyra Anderson from Swan Districts and South Fremantle’s Shantae Freeman who all finished on 15 votes.

The Joanne Huggins Leading Goal Scorer award went to Peel Thunderbirds player Kira Phillips. Danielle Fagents from Coastal Titans won the Reserves Leading Goal Scorer Award, while South Fremantle’s Shakira Pickett took out the title for Rogers Cup with 31 goals to her name.

Other award winners announced on Monday night included Peel Thunderbird’s Sabreena Duffy who won the Cath Boyce Rookie of the Year Award. Reserves Rising Star award went to Bridget Henderson from Coastal Titans, and Rogers Cup Rising Star was awarded to Nyra Anderson from Swan Districts.

The 2017 Lynette Smith Volunteer of the Year award was won by Narelle Scott from East Fremantle.
