The Western Australia Amateur Football League (WAAFL) will embark on a new venture this week with the first episode of its new television show, Amateur Footy Time (AFT).

Airing on Thursday nights at 8pm on Foxtel’s Aurora 183, AFT is a 10 episode series that will be televised across the nation until the end of the 2013 WAAFL season.

Breakfast radio personality Steve Mills will host the series that will keep the 65 WAAFL clubs and associated amateur football community up to date with what’s happening in the League.

Developed by Local Media Services Company, AFT will be the only locally produced television show that showcases community football in Perth.

Each episode is shot entirely on location, and features all aspects of WAAFL club football in WA, and even features Masters, Integrated and Women’s football.

WAAFL General Manager David Armstrong said this was a great initiative for the league and one that would bring the football community closer together.

“Amateur Footy Time is another step forward for the WAAFL, a move that will keep everyone engaged with amateur football,” he said.

Series director David Macrae said the WAAFL’s initiative and support of the new production had been fantastic.

“We can’t speak highly enough of the league and clubs for coming together to put this show to air. Community football is the lifeblood of the sport in WA and this series will go a long way in showcasing how impressive the sport is in the community.”

Throughout the series, the AFT team will travel all over the metro area, and even to the regions, seeking out all the characters of community football, showcasing highlights from on and off the field, going behind the scenes, and showing young and aspiring footballers how to improve their game.

Amateur Footy time will air on Thursday 18th July at 8pm on Foxtel 183.
