THE WAFL’s Anzac Round continues across the weekend with West Perth facing South Fremantle on Saturday, and Swan Districts hosting East Fremantle on Sunday.

Anzac Round got underway on Thursday at Lathlain’s Mineral Resources Park with East Perth scoring the 13.13 (91) to 10.10 (70) victory against Perth with the Royals returning to top spot on the ladder.

The round will now continue on Saturday afternoon with West Perth playing host to South Fremantle at Joondalup’s Pentanet Stadium.

The two teams have been regular finalists in recent history and had some fascinating match ups with both attempting to return to finals action in 2024 after missing out in 2023.

Both have started the season encouragingly as well with West Perth and South Fremantle coming into Saturday’s match up with 2-1 records.

The Falcons won their first two games to Claremont and Perth before a last up loss to Subiaco while the Bulldogs lost first up to East Perth but have since scored wins over West Coast and Claremont.

That sets up a tremendous match up in the lone Saturday afternoon contest for Round 5.

The round will then wrap up at Steel Blue Oval on Sunday afternoon with Swan Districts at home to East Fremantle.

Swans will be celebrating the 90th anniversary of their first ever game back in 1934 which was also against East Fremantle for the occasion as the standalone Sunday contest.

Both teams need a win as well with Swans having won one of their three games so far this season and looking to bounce back from a narrow loss two weeks ago to Perth before the bye.

The Sharks’ premiership defence hasn’t got off to the best start with one win from three games, but without a point to their name because of the minus four start.

East Fremantle became the first team to lose to West Coast in almost two years a fortnight ago meaning the Sharks head to Bassendean on Sunday with plenty of reasons to get back on the winner’s list.

PERTH 10.10 (70) lost to EAST PERTH 13.13 (91)

WEST PERTH v SOUTH FREMANTLE – PENTANET STADIUM, SATURDAY 2.10PM

SWAN DISTRICTS v EAST FREMANTLE – STEEL BLUE OVAL, SUNDAY 2.30PM
