State Talent and Draft"
An initial 32-player squad has been locked in ahead of next month’s Kia WAFL State Game against South Australia at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.
Seventeen players from last year’s drought-breaking 30-point win over the SANFL in Adelaide have been selected, including captain Christian Ameduri, as the Black Swans look to make it back-to-back victories at Sullivan Logistics Stadium on Saturday, May 16.
West Perth midfielder and AFL Mid-Season Draft hopeful Kane Bevan is one of 10 potential debutants alongside Claremont key forward Jaiden Hunter, Peel Thunder recruit Lachlan Tardrew and Subiaco defender Galen Savigni.
Back-to-back grand finallists East Perth are the best represented club with seven players including recruit Darcy Craven who’s back in the WAFL after a stint at the Brisbane Lions.
South Fremantle skipper Chad Pearson is the most experienced member of the squad as he prepares to represent the State for a sixth consecutive year, while Swan Districts captain Jesse Turner and West Perth defender Zac Guadagnin are both in line for their fifth appearance.

“We feel that we’ve got great balance and experience in our squad including 17 players who featured in last year’s win at Adelaide Oval,” second-year Kia WAFL State Team coach Adam Read said.
“It’s great to be able to reward some new faces in the squad, including several who have played at the highest level, for their strong starts to the WAFL season.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for these guys to match it with the best of the best in state footy and represent Western Australia in front of a home crowd in what’s going to be an exciting triple-header of representative football at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.”
The match forms part of a triple-header of representative football including the Kia WAFLW State Team’s clash against the SANFLW and a talent showcase game between the AAMI WA Football State 18s and a WAFL Under-20s side.
The 32-player squad will be trimmed the week of the game.
