The AAMI WA Football State 18s Boys went down to South Fremantle Reserves at Fremantle Community Bank Oval in their third of six trial games ahead of the AFL National Under-18s Championship.

The Black Swans recovered from a five-goals-to-none opening term to get to within eight points by the final siren against a strong Bulldogs outfit.

Claremont son of a gun George Gale once again impressed for WA, continuing his stellar season with 31 disposals, nine inside 50s, four clearances and two goals playing a mix of inside midfield and wing.

South Fremantle goalsneak Cam Maynard was lively with two goals from 18 touches, while East Fremantle and Fremantle Next Generation Academy talent Finlay Yeo also impressed with 18 disposals and six clearances.

Claremont tall Benji van Rooyen was another standout performer, battling hard in the ruck to be among the best for the third game in a row, while his Tigers teammate Harper Banfield (23 disposals, eight inside 50s and four clearances) also caught the eye.

It comes as exciting West Perth forward Koby LeCras has been ruled out of the National Championships with a partial ACL tear in a massive blow to WA’s squad.

The State 16s Boys had a big win over South Fremantle Colts with Subiaco and Kalgoorlie gun Zinzan Clark, East Fremantle key forward Jayke Taylor and his Sharks forward-line teammate Jack Holland standing out.
