Prolific Perth goal-kicker Poppy Stockwell will get a second chance in the AFLW after getting picked up by Hawthorn as a replacement player this week.

The former Fremantle-listed forward has been in red-hot form for the Demons, booting 10 goals in her last two WAFLW appearances including 7.1 against West Perth last round to make it 13 majors in six appearances for 2026.

She also impressed in the Kia WAFLW State Team’s recent breakthrough victory over the SANFLW last month with a game-high four majors.

Hawthorn General Manager of AFLW Keegan Brooksby welcomed Stockwell to the club and praised the 22-year-old on improving her game.

“Poppy has shown improvement in her game and is someone we believe can make an impact in our environment,” Brooksby told the club website.

“She possesses some really dangerous traits as a medium-sized forward and is a proven goalkicker.

“At just 22, we’re confident Poppy‘s best football is in front of her and look forward to seeing that potential realised in the brown and gold.”

Stockwell replaces Aileen Gilroy who was moved to the inactive list following her retirement earlier this year.
