A recruitment drive has been launched by the WA Football Commission to attract umpires to the game.
Multiple "Umpire Come and Try Days" will be held over the coming months, with the first taking place at Tuart College in Tuart Hill next month.
These events offer a fantastic opportunity for individuals to explore the role of an umpire, connect with new people, and encourage them to sign join the umpiring community.
Matthew Laycock, Umpire Recruitment, Development and Retention Specialist
at the West Australian Football Commission, has outlined how vital officials are to the health of the game.
“There are over 1500 games played across WA each weekend, and they don’t happen without umpires,” Laycock said.
“Umpiring is a whole lot of fun, meeting new people and have fantastic experiences.
Not to mention you get paid to play your role on game day.”
