The most successful club in WAFL history will launch a new era on Saturday when it plays its first game at its redeveloped home ground.
Unveiling the new venue has been a long time in the making, ending a frustrating period for everyone at East Fremantle.
“After three years without a training base, a home ground and the toll it has taken on players, staff, members, fans and the club’s financial situation it is wonderful to be back at East Fremantle Oval competing for points,” Sharks CEO Adrian Bromage said.
The patience of East Fremantle’s stakeholders has not been forgotten.
“It is exciting that we can honour our partners who have stuck by us for so long with new assets and exposure opportunities that didn’t exist before,” he said.
“We also welcome new contributors such as our naming rights partner The Good Grocer to the newly named facility - The Good Grocer Park.”
Members and fans can look forward to all the trappings of a revamped home ground.
“The modern facilities are terrific with a fully operating bar and restaurant, a 480-seat new stand and plenty of complimentary viewing locations on the eastern side of the ground,” Bromage said.
“In conjunction with our hospitality partner Belgravia Leisure, we will introduce other facilities to enhance the game day experience including food vans, kids’ activation zones, a temporary grand stand for more seats and a licensed marquee,” he said.
“The Sullivan Logistics truck and viewing area will be on site for Round 1, which is something to be seen!
“Thank you to Tim Sullivan and his team for producing this on behalf of the WAFL.”
Bromage, the 1998 Sandover Medallist, has overseen the completion of the ground’s redevelopment.
“It means everything to the players,” Bromage said.
“My first task when joining the club was to interview the players and unanimously both the men and women agreed all they wanted us to do was get them home.
“We have since seen them embrace what is on offer and the mood around the place is very positive.
“The season opener against the West Coast Eagles at The Good Grocer Park will be celebrated with three wonderful games of footy.
“On the agenda will be an opening ceremony including the flag unfurling of both 2023 WAFL and WAFLW premiership flags, a welcome to country and a panel of past East Fremantle stars at the season opening President’s Lunch.”
Entry to the ground is complimentary for Saturday’s Round 1 action.
