THE West Australian Football League recorded its second round of more than 10,000 in attendance with strong support at the ANZAC Round for Legacy WA.

A total of 11,456 fans attended the four games played during the round, which included three games on ANZAC Day and one on Saturday, April 27, proudly supported by Legacy WA.

It was the second time this season that attendance has exceeded 10,000 for a round after 10,709 attended games over the Easter weekend in Round 3.

WAFL Operations Manager Cameron Knapton said the strong attendance at both of the feature rounds so far this year was great for the competition.

“To have more than 10,000 attend two rounds already this season is a great start. Scheduling games on days like Good Friday and ANZAC Day has proven to be a success and sees us on track to grow overall attendance in 2013.

“We really appreciate the support of Legacy WA for our ANZAC Day Round and look forward to working closely with them again next year and for the 100th anniversary of ANZAC Day in 2015.

“The WAFL Fixture Committee has placed an increased emphasis on the feature rounds this season, so it is pleasing to see the fans respond well to these games. The WAFL has a strong following that will grow if we continue to offer a quality, family friendly experience for our fans,” he said.
