WAFLW"
Olivia Wolmarans is set to be the first West Aussie called out in Monday night’s AFLW Draft at Marvel Stadium.
The Subiaco young gun is coming off another brilliant year, highlighted by her AFLW U18 All-Australian selection and averaging more than 1.5 goals per game in the WAFLW.
Wolmarans is firming as a top-five selection and could even go in the top-three picks in a sign of just how highly AFLW clubs rate her.
WA Football’s female talent manager Trent Cooper described the Lions key forward as a unique talent who is set to cause headaches for opposition defenders in the AFLW.
“There’s no one really like her that can do what she can do,” Cooper explained.

“And she’s worked really hard as well. Unbelievable endurance, she’s going to be a really hard match-up right from the start in the AFLW.”
Wolmarans was delighted to get an invitation to attend the AFLW Draft in Melbourne alongside long-time State teammate and Peel Thunder jet Evie Cowcher, calling it a “dream come true”.
“I’m so stoked even to get that invite,” she said.
“People that I’ve worked hard with, and seen accomplish their goals, to also see them get invited is just a dream come true, and to also maybe get my name called out.
“I think I’m a very chill person. I just take everything when it comes. I don’t really dwell on what’s happened in the past or what’s coming up. I just pretty much focus on what is happening right now.
“Evie and I have gone through the same pathway since we were 14, so just seeing her also come along on the ride means everything to me as much as it means to her.”
The 18-year-old has been long touted as one of the most talented prospects out of this year’s crop.
But Wolmarans revealed she had to make a career-defining call between footy and basketball.
“Footy was my favourite sport and the sport I wanted to do in the future so it was a very easy pick,” she said.
