The West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) proudly supports the 16 Days in WA – Stopping Family and Domestic Violence: Play your Part – reaffirming its commitment to ending gender-based violence.

Running from 25 November to 10 December, this annual initiative calls on individuals and organisations to take a stand against violence.

The WAFC recognises the critical need to address the attitudes and behaviours that lead to violence against women and their children.

Through its values-driven leadership, the WAFC is actively working to create safe, inclusive, and supportive environments within football and the broader community.

The WAFC continues to deliver several initiatives to raise awareness and promote meaningful change. These include:

  • Delivering tailored education programs for players, coaches, and administrators focused on respectful relationships and zero tolerance to violence.
  • Partnering with community organisations to provide resources and workshops that empower participants to challenge gender stereotypes and harmful behaviours.
  • Implementing clear policies and procedures to ensure football clubs are safe spaces for everyone, with zero tolerance for harassment or discrimination.

WAFC CEO Michael Roberts said football can play a powerful role in shaping community attitudes.

“As a sport with deep community connections, football has a unique platform to influence positive change,” Roberts said.

“We’re proud to support the 16 Days in WA campaign and stand united against gender-based violence.”

The WAFC encourages everyone in the football community to reflect on how they can contribute to a safer and more inclusive society, free from violence and discrimination.
