WA trio Lexi Strachan, Cara Dziegielewski and Mia Carlshausen impressed for the Australian Under-18s in a big win over Carlton VFLW at IKON Park on Sunday.
The West Aussie AFLW prospects, along with AAMI WA Football State 18s Girls coach Kate Orme, spent several days in Melbourne as part of their AFLW Academy commitments.
Orme was assistant coach for the Australian team, which prevailed by 46 points in their first ever hit-out again VFLW opposition.
West Perth midfielder Strachan was the pick of the WA talent, amassing 17 disposals, four inside 50s, three clearances and three score assists in an eye-catching display.

Fellow Falcon Dziegielewski split her time between the forward-line and ruck, kicking 1.1 from her 14 disposals to go with nine hit-outs, three inside 50s and two clearances.
Perth half-back Carlshausen also contributed in the win over the Blues with 11 disposals, four marks and two rebound 50s.
Players also took part in a range of education, wellbeing and team-bonding sessions across the three-day program in the lead up to the game.
It was the AFLW Academy’s second high-performance camp following an induction camp that was held at the New Zealand Campus of Innovation and Sport (NZCIS) in December.
“One of the aims of the National Academy is to provide new experiences to our up-and-coming stars outside of what is already delivered at their state talent program to best prepare players for the next step in their football journey,” Marsh AFL National Academy Manager, Tarkyn Lockyer, said:
The Academy, featuring 25 of this year’s most talented Draft prospects, will come together again in Melbourne over the King’s Birthday weekend for another high-performance, which will feature another game against an All-Stars team.
