South Fremantle 7.6 (48) v Subiaco 0.5 (5)

Wet and rainy conditions saw the Bulldogs not only pull off the upset of the year, but do so convincingly, smashing the undefeated and top placed Lions seven goals to zero just a week after handing Perth their first ever win.

The victory pulls South Fremantle level on points with the top four and with a game against last placed East Perth this weekend.

State squad member Alira Fotu returned from injury after spending time with the Perth Lynx and didn’t miss a beat, kicking two goals from 15 disposals and taking five marks.

Through Charlie Vandenberg and Hannah Burt, the Bulldogs dominated the ruck battle, while the pressure they applied was immense, Jasmine Bazeley, Tahleah Mulder, Kelli Elliss and Burt applying a combined 48 tackles.

Liusaidh Gilchrist was also stellar with 16 disposals and five marks.

The superstar Lions midfield of Krstel Petrevski, Lisa Steane and Paige Sheppard still found plenty of the ball and Subiaco led the inside 50 count but only produced five behinds from those entries.

Claremont 4.10 (34) v Perth 2.1 (13)

The Tigers moved to top spot on the ladder off the back of big performances from Sarah Viney (30 disposals, nine tackles) and Jayme Harken (25 disposals, eight tackles), while Savannah Muir-Thompson kicked two goals.

Matilda Husband, Laura Cinanni and Jacinta Valentini all made strong contributions to the win, whilst Rachel Ortlepp found 15 possessions, laid five tackles, took four marks and kicked a goal.

Perth’s regular contributors in Isabella Shannon, jasmine Single and Holly Britton all played well, but the Demons had just 16 inside 50s to Claremont’s 31 despite winning the clearance battle.

West Perth 5.10 (40) V Peel Thunder 1.1 (7)

The Falcons retained a spot in the top four with a heavy win over the Thunder, despite some big numbers from Chloe Wrigley (26 disposals, nine tackles), Ebony Dawson (25 disposals), Cassie Davidson (20 disposals, 14 tackles) and Krystel Carter (20 disposals).

Madison Dodd led the way for West Perth with 21 touches, while Mia Robis, Erin O’Brien and Hayley Bidefield all performed well.

Kayla and Lunay van den Heever, the latter in just game two as a 16-year-old, combined to collect 39 disposals and lay 11 tackles, while the bottom-ager Lunay kicked two goals from five scoring shots in a dazzling display.

East Fremantle 6.6 (42) v East Perth 2.1 (13)

The Sharks took care of business at home on Sunday as stars Noa McNaughton (18 disposals, 13 tackles) and Sarah Wielstra (12 disposals, two goals) shone.

East Fremantle also got two goals from Eve Wilson-Sieber while Amber Kinnane (12 disposals, 11 tackles, one goal) and Brooke Repacholi produced big numbers.

Summer Mollross and Layla Firns held their heads high for the Royals, as did Brianna Cleggett and Brianna Hyde.

The Sharks find themselves just a game and percentage out of the top four with a blockbuster clash against West Perth upcoming.
