The West Australian Country Football League’s CBH Colts will play the West Coast Eagles State Amateur Colts at Patersons Stadium at 11:50am this Saturday, June 14 in a curtain raiser to the West Coast Eagles and Gold Coast Suns AFL game.
CBH WACFL Colts Coach Craig Walker said this was an exciting opportunity for the best young players from regional WA to showcase their skills at Patersons Stadium.
“It is a fantastic opportunity for country players to play on the premier oval in WA as a precursor to the AFL game,” he said.
“The talent pool in the country runs very deep and the players stepping out in this side carry the dreams and aspirations of every country footballer.”
The WAAFL State Amateur Colts were victorious by two points in last year’s encounter, a score which the WACFL side will be looking to even on Saturday.
GREAT SOUTHERN COLTS CARNIVAL
This weekend will also see the Great Southern Colts Carnival held in Kulin on Saturday and Sunday, June 14 and 15.
The Great Southern, Wheatbelt, Ongerup, Peel, Esperance, Upper Great Southern and Goldfields Football Leagues will all be represented at the carnival, with Peel looking to defend their title after defeating Great Southern in last year’s Grand Final.
NORTHERN REGIONS COLTS CARNIVAL
Following the Great Southern Carnival is the Northern Regions Colts Carnival, which will be held on June 21 and 22 at Wongan Hills. This carnival will see teams from Avon, Great Northern, Mortlock, North Midlands and Central Midland Coastal Leagues battle it out over the weekend.
These carnivals provide a chance for selectors to find the best young talent in country WA to go on to the Landmark Country Carnival in July and possible State duties in the future.
