The Western Australian Football Commission is pleased to announce the following players have been selected in the 2022 AFL Mid-Season Draft.
1. Wade Derksen (Peel) 195cm/90kg
Wade Derksen has been selected at pick 5 by Greater Western Sydney in the AFL Mid-Season Draft.
Turning 21 today, the young forward has made an immediate impact with Peel in the WAFL this season, despite playing only 3 matches.
Originally from Darwin, Derksen has kicked 7 goals and averaged 12 disposals a game for the Thunder.
2. Brynn Teakle (EF) 203cm/97kgs
Brynn Teakle has been selected at pick 8 by Port Adelaide in the AFL Mid-Season Draft.
The East Fremantle ruckman has been on the radar of several AFL clubs in the lead up to the Draft, including Hawthorn, Port Adelaide, and Collingwood.
Teakle is no stranger to the AFL, having trained with Essendon during the club’s 2020 pre-season before Covid hit.
The 22-year-old ruckman, who hails from the famous football town of Northampton, has been in strong form for the Sharks this season.
In six games for East Fremantle, Teakle has averaged nearly 15 disposals and kicked 6 goals.
He’s also had 101 hit-outs to help the Sharks sit in top spot on the WAFL ladder.
3. Sebit Kuek (EP) 195cm/73 kg
Sebit Kuek has been taken at pick 15 by the Fremantle Dockers in the AFL Mid-Season Draft.
An emerging star in the WAFL, Kuek has kicked 16 goals in 5 games this year, displaying great athleticism as a key forward.
Born in a Kenyan refugee camp to Sudanese parents, the 21-year-old has played 12 games for the Royals.
