Be part of WA's first AFL Nines tournament!

WA Football, in partnership with Country Football WA and the City of Bunbury, is bringing AFL Nines to the newly upgraded Hands Oval for a weekend of fun, fast, social footy.

Open to players aged 18+, the tournament features Men’s, Women’s, Mixed, and Masters (35+) competitions. Teams of 9 - 15 players will take the ground across three action-packed days.

The weekend kicks off Friday night with a launch party and celebrity match, followed by games running across Saturday and Sunday.

The important stuff:

Date: Friday 7 – Sunday 9 November

Venue: Hands Oval, Bunbury WA

Divisions: Men’s, Women’s, Mixed, Masters (35+)

Players per team: Minimum 9, maximum 15

Age: All players must be 18+

Entry Fee: $900 per team

Event Schedule & Timeline

The official fixture will be released in October. Teams may play Friday, Saturday, Sunday or all days. We recommend arriving on Thursday to prepare for matches on Friday.

Rules & Regulations

AFL Nines is played under modified rules to make the game fast, fun, and inclusive.

Key Rules

• Nine players per team on the field with unlimited interchange
• Touch only no tackling
• Three zones only forwards can score
• Marks count regardless of distance
• If the ball hits the ground it’s a turnover
• Two 10 minute halves no time on

Do I need AFL experience?
No. AFL Nines is designed for all skill levels. It’s a social, fast, and flexible version of the game you love. There’s no tackling, no contact, and no prior experience needed.

AFL Nines is the version of footy that fits into real life. It’s fast-paced, action-packed and played once a week, with no tackling, no training, no pressure and no full weekends. 

What should I wear?
Matching tops are required. Footy boots are recommended, with no metal studs, however runners/joggers are also acceptable.

What’s included in my registration fee?
Aside from an action-packed weekend, your rego also covers the essentials – umpires, ground hire, match balls, and insurance. We’ve got the boring stuff sorted so you can focus on the fun stuff.
