Kids go free month is backMonday, June 26, 2023 - 1:38 PM

If you are struggling to keep the kids entertained these school holidays, then read on because we have you sorted.

Thousands of young football fans across the state will have the opportunity to attend AFL matches for free during Rounds 16 – 19 of the 2023 Toyota AFL Premiership season with the return of the AFL’s Kids Go Free Month initiative.

As recognition of our young fan base, kids aged 14 years and under will receive free entry to AFL games played from 29 June to 23 July.

This means kids can get down to Optus Stadium and watch their favourite WA team – West Coast Eagles or Fremantle Dockers.

West Australian Football Commission CEO Michael Roberts said the Kids Go Free initiative offers families the chance to make a day of it at the footy.

“We understand the financial pressures families are facing,” Roberts said.

“The aim of this initiative is to see many families take advantage of the school holidays and take their kids to the footy to see their favourite team live and be part of footy crowd,” Roberts said.

West Coast Eagles General Manager – Consumer Business, Lisa Bradock, said the club is looking forward to enjoying Kids Go Free Month with their fans at their Round 16 and Round 18 matches.

“There will be family-friendly fun for all ages with a silent disco, a circus workshop, roaming magician, stilt walkers, face painters, competitions and more. Tickets for these matches are already in hot demand, so make sure you book seats through Ticketmaster to avoid disappointment” Bradock said.

Fremantle Football Club Chief Commercial Officer, Denis Bicer said: “This is a great initiative by the AFL to provide the future fans of our game an opportunity to experience their own Freo First next month.”

“Attracting families with kids to our games is a strategic priority and to provide a platform for those fans to create their own family traditions is certainly not lost on us.

“Fremantle home games offer some of the best game day experiences across the league and we have some big things planned for our round 17 and 19 home games when kids can go free. There’ll be plenty of entertainment for the entire family to enjoy.”

Each match across Kids Go Free Month will have nominated ticket categories in which junior tickets will be free, with the initiative set to help families save up to $28 for a junior ticket.

The WAFL is entering the second half of the season with just two games separating first from sixth place on the ladder.

“If you can’t get to an AFL match, our WAFL games offer a great game day experience with plenty of activities for the kids, and the best part is kids under 16 enter for free,” Roberts said.
