THINGS continue to heat up ahead of the finals in the WAFLW with the Round 14 action including South Fremantle and Subiaco trying to stay in finals contention before on Sunday, Swan Districts try to end the winning run of East Fremantle.
It's the third last round of the home and away season in the WAFLW competition for 2024 and all four games have something riding on it in the race towards the finals.
The action gets underway on Friday night at Joondalup's Pentanet Stadium and it's only fitting on the WA Day long weekend that it's West Perth playing host to East Perth.
The Falcons now sit in second position after two-point wins against Claremont and South Fremantle, and just need to keep winning to stay there for a first ever final appearance.
Next up is on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Community Bank Oval with South Fremantle playing host to Subiaco with both teams trying to stay in the finals hunt.
South Fremantle have slipped to 4-7 and two games out of the four with four straight defeats while Subiaco is a game out of fourth at 5-6 following winning the past three matches.
The next game on Saturday is at Mandurah's Lane Group Stadium with Peel Thunder at home to Claremont.
Peel is just looking for a boost to end the season on but Claremont needs a bounce back win having now lost three of the past four to have slipped to third place.
The round then wraps up on Sunday afternoon at Steel Blue Oval with Swan Districts at home to East Fremantle.
Swans are currently in fourth place having won their past two games while the Sharks are on fire with the reigning premiers on an eight-game winning run to be two games and percentage clear in top spot.
That sets the stage for a memorable day and Swan Districts forward Emily McGuire will be playing her 100th senior game for the club.
She has kicked eight goals across the last two games and is looking for a memorable day not only in her milestone, but also to celebrate Reconciliation Round.
"East Freo have always been a tough opponent, they're the reigning premiers and they play some good footy," McGuire said.
"It's my all-time favourite round, getting to represent my culture on our home deck for my 100th game, it really can't get any better than that!
"I'm hoping we can get the win against a great opposition in East Freo and keep our finals chances alive."
