A FULL round of WAFL action resumes this weekend highlighted by East Perth taking on South Fremantle, and East Fremantle battling Claremont while a Swan Districts stalwart reaches 100 games.
Every WAFL team has now played 10 games this season with a full round of fixtures across this weekend that gets underway on Saturday afternoon with Peel Thunder playing host to Subiaco.
Peel is now a game and percentage clear in top spot on the back of beating West Perth by four points last week while Subiaco is looking to stay in finals contention following the bye and an 86-point defeat at the hands of East Fremantle.
Also on Saturday afternoon is two teams trying to breathe some life back into their seasons with Perth playing host to West Perth at Mineral Resources Park.
The Demons are in last place having lost seven straight while the Falcons have now lost four in-a-row to be in danger of missing finals for a second straight season since winning the 2022 premiership.
The last match up on Saturday afternoon should be a beauty with the second placed East Perth playing host to the third ranked South Fremantle at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.
Both teams come into the match up on 7-3 records with the Royals just ahead of the Bulldogs thanks to percentage. East Perth is coming off losing its past two matches too and is looking to hit back with South Fremantle fresh off a 53-point win against West Coast.
The action then turns to two games on Sunday afternoon beginning with the on-fire Swan Districts at home to the West Coast Eagles at Steel Blue Oval.
Swans have now won four games in-a-row to be in fourth position with a 6-4 record as they come up against an Eagles team in second last spot at 3-7 and who have never beaten the black-and-whites in nine attempts.
Swan Districts ruckman Nathan Blakely is rightfully proud to reach 100 games having started his career in 2013 and earned his medical degree and undergone two knee reconstructions along the way.
But what he is most excited about right now is the momentum his team is building.
"It's exciting being part of things right now and you can see the last couple of weeks how strong our crowd numbers have been at Bassendean, and everyone's really up and about," Blakely said.
"Our post-match bar attendance has been huge and the bar staff have said we've been getting really big numbers so there's so much to like.
"Hopefully if that continues I know there'll be a bit of a giant awakening kind of like Richmond or Collingwood in the AFL where a lot of people come out of the woodwork to get behind Swans if we can keep winning games.
"That will give us a huge push because you can see what happened back in 2010 the last time we had some success."
The round then wraps up on neutral turf with East Fremantle playing Claremont at Sullivan Logistics Stadium.
The Sharks are coming off a bye and an 86-point win against Subiaco to be sitting in fifth spot at 6-4 as the reigning premiers.
The Tigers have been building impressive form too having won three straight including by 19 points last week against Perth to be knocking on the door of the top five at 5-5.
