Round 15 WAFL PreviewFriday, July 12, 2024 - 8:41 AM - by Chris Pike

THERE might be just three games in Round 15 of the WAFL but each of them are fascinating in their own way with the hottest and coldest teams right now locking horns, and a Grand Final rematch between Peel Thunder and East Fremantle.

You couldn't get three more intriguing match ups if you tried with West Coast and West Perth attempting to snap tough losing slides while Swan Districts and Claremont put their winning streaks on the line before the Thunder and Sharks meet in the Grand Final rematch.

The action begins at Mineral Resources Park with West Coast playing host to West Perth. The Eagles come into the contest having lost the last four to be in bottom spot while the Falcons are only percentage ahead having lost their previous six matches.

Next up at Lane Group Stadium will see Peel Thunder play host to East Fremantle in the second meeting between them since the Sharks won last year's Grand Final by 39 points.

Peel did beat East Fremantle in the season-opener also in Mandurah back in Round 1 by 19 points with the Thunder currently sitting in top spot while the Sharks are sixth with both coming off victories.

The round's action then wraps up with the league's hottest teams doing battle with Swan Districts hosting Claremont at Steel Blue Oval.

Swans come into the game having won six in-a-row to be in third position at 8-4 as they take on a Tigers team now sitting fifth and on a five-match winning streak.

Claremont has also won 12 of the last 14 against Swan Districts, but it's a huge day for the black-and-whites with co-captain Jesse Turner reaching his 150-game milestone while Tony Notte joins Bill Walker on 305 matches to join him as the games record holder.

While Notte knows what a big occasion it is for Swan Districts, he knows the win is what matters and he's fully aware how tough Claremont always are given he's only won 13 times in 41 attempts against the Tigers in his career.

"I know when we played them last time at their home ground we hadn’t beaten them there for 11 years so we know that it's been tough against Claremont over the years," Notte said.

"They are obviously flying at the same time now too so we are expecting nothing less from them this weekend and we have great respect for the team they have been, and the form they are in.

"Hopefully we get some nice weather and it should be a good spectacle for the crowd."
