Wheatbelt Celebrates 19th year of Auskick CarnivalWednesday, July 24, 2024 - 2:24 PM

The Corrigin Neu-tech Cup brought together nearly 250 young football participants to the heart of the wheatbelt for an unforgettable Auskick carnival.  

Celebrating its 19th year, this event is one of the premier Auskick carnivals in the state, featuring 10 towns across regional football zones.  

Participants aged five to 11 made up 18 teams from Corrigin, Hyden/Kalgarin, Quairading, Verley, Brookton, Bruce Rock, Kulin/Kondinin, Narmbeen, Lake Grace and Pingelly to play a host of round-robin matches showcasing their skills. 

The carnival was a celebration of the wheatbelt’s community spirit and love of our great game.  

Another highlight of the carnival, Auskick coordinators relished this opportunity to come together to share their experiences and continue to create engaging fun programs for the participants. 

Highlighting the growing inclusivity in the sport, this year’s carnival featured 20 per cent female participants, reflecting the increasing engagement of girls in football.

“Regional Auskick carnivals are a rarity, so this event is a key standout within the Auskick space.  

“This carnival provides the Auskickers the chance to play football games against other kids they typically would not mix with. 

“Several of the families involved participated in this amazing carnival themselves and now their own kids are participating.”
