West Australian Umpire Named as an AFLW Community AmbassadorTuesday, September 17, 2024 - 1:56 PM

West Australian Goal Umpire Ella Spinks is one of seven women involved in football across the country to be named the 2024 Chemist Warehouse AFLW Community Ambassadors.

Now in its fourth year the AFLW Community Ambassador program recognises members from the football community who have been instrumental in facilitating and nurturing the remarkable growth in footy for women and girls.

Each Chemist Warehouse AFLW Community Ambassador receives a $1,000 grant from the Women’s Football Fund to donate to the club of their choice and the opportunity to be involved in the 2024 NAB AFLW Finals Series.

WAFC Womens and Girls Community Football Manager, Nicole Serafini congratulated Ella.

There are countless women making incredible contributions to our sport right now, making it a challenge to choose just one standout. It’s truly inspiring to witness so many women stepping up and propelling us forward,” Serafini said

Ella has profoundly impacted the growth of women and girl’s football as the President of the East Fremantle Umpires Association and is also the Goal Umpire Coach at the club.

Her leadership and advocacy have increased visibility for females within umpiring.

Ella spends time working one on one with umpires to help develop their skills and inspire them to pursue their passions.

She attends multiple games in a day so she can watch all umpires and provide support and feedback.

Ella has broken new ground at the club and continues to set a brilliant example for women in sports leadership.
