Bolton says Claremont teammate is best in the WAFLWednesday, May 7, 2025 - 2:34 PM

From one Sandover medallist to another, Jye Bolton has described his Claremont teammate Bailey Rogers as “the best player in the WAFL” following a dominant display in last Friday night’s victory over West Perth at HIF Health Insurance Oval.

In just his third game back of the season due to a long-term Achilles issue, Rogers starred with 29 disposals and a goal in the hard-fought nine-point win on the road.

It came after a 30-possession, two-goal game in the win over West Coast the previous round.

“Bailey is, in my opinion, the best player in the WAFL,” the two-time Sandover Medal winner told the Around the WAFL podcast.

“It’s amazing to have him back in form and in full flight so I’m stoked to have him firing again as well.

“Especially missing reigning Sandover medallist in Cal (Callan England), we definitely miss him in the midfield, so to see Bailey step up again was essential for us.”

Claremont host South Fremantle at Revo Fitness Stadium on Saturday, hoping for a third win on the trot.

Bolton expects Callan England to return from a knee injury in the next couple of weeks in another positive for the fifth-placed Tigers.

“He should only miss a couple of games,” Bolton said.

Bolton, 33, has been in excellent form himself, averaging 27.6 disposals across the first five games of the WAFL season to go with three goals.
