Thrilling top-of-the-table draw highlights WAFLW Round 7Tuesday, May 20, 2025 - 11:00 AM

Subiaco 4.6 (30) v Claremont 4.6 (30)

In one of the most exhilarating WAFLW games in recent history, the two undefeated sides of the competition clashed and played out a draw.

Subiaco came out of the blocks hot early with five scoring shots to Claremont’s zero, but inaccuracy cost them, converting for just one goal through draft prospect Olivia Wolmarans.

The second term was much more even, but the third quarter was all Tigers, kicking three goals to one to take a five-point advantage into the second half.

Subiaco made the comeback in the final quarter, Wolmarans kicking her second to tie the game at the 18-and-a-half-minute mark.

Unbelievably the two sides still remain undefeated and, as if it were scripted, don’t face each other again until the final round of the home-and-away competition.

Krstel Petrevski led the ball winners with 24 disposals and five tackles, while Lisa Steane collected 21 and laid 10 tackles.

Matilda Sergeant amassed 22 touches for the Tigers.

Young star Wolmarans was the only multiple goalkicker, as she continues to boost her draft stock by the week.

Peel Thunder 6.9 (45) v East Perth 3.6 (24)

The Thunder bounced back from their shocking defeat at the hands of West Perth last weekend to claim a 19-point victory over the Royals.

They were boosted by yet another magnificent performance by Chloe Wrigley, who now has won 48 more disposals than any other player this season.

Her 36 touches, along with four marks and five tackles, led all comers, but Gracie Fenton (29 disposals, five tackles) and Ebony Bilcich (24 disposals, nine tackles) were also impressive.

Tiama Collard booted two goals from 19 disposals and laid eight tackles, while Krystal Carter also kicked two majors from her 16 possessions.

Elly Sara won 25 disposals for the Royals, who fell to 1-5 and now sit in eighth position.

Swan Districts 7.5 (47) v Perth 4.4 (28)

Swan Districts climbed to third on the WAFLW ladder after defeating the Demons by 19 points at Steel Blue Oval.

Swans have lost just one game for the year and sit only two points short of the ladder leaders following the draw.

Draft prospect Carys D’Addario collected 22 touches, took five marks and laid six tackles, whilst partner-in-crime Jaime Henry added 19 disposals and kicked a goal.

Emily McGuire booted two goals for the home side, while Mel Grage kicked two for the visitors.

Isabella Shannon and Holly Britton won plenty of the football, combining for 54 touches, 13 tackles and 11 marks.

West Perth 3.10 (28) V East Fremantle 2.1 (13)

A wayward West Perth wasted a chance at a big percentage boost on Saturday night, kicking 3.10 on their way to a 15-point win.

The Falcons, despite having four more scoring shots, trailed the Sharks at three quarter time by a point, before kicking three goals to one in the final term.

West Perth won far more of the football, having the seven leading possession getters on the ground, as Emily Bennett and promising draft prospect Mia Russo led from the front.

Jamarah Walley kicked multiple goals in that final period, while young star Alicia Blizard booted a goal for the losing side.

The ruck battle was an even contest, West Perth’s Cara Dziegielewski managing 26 hit outs, nine tackles and 17 disposals to Brooke Repacholi’s 25 hit outs, six tackles and 15 touches for East Freo.

The Men’s competition returns this weekend with Round 7 action via five games on Saturday, while the WAFLW fixture features two Sunday games.
