East Kimberley crowned Kimberley Colts Carnival champions in BroomeWednesday, June 4, 2025 - 4:55 PM - by Jordan McArdle

East Kimberley were crowned 2025 Kimberley Colts Carnival champions after an exciting two days in Broome.

The EKFL team defeated West Kimberley in the final on Sunday, reversing the result from the opening game of the carnival the previous day.

Teams from South East Kimberley and Central Kimberley also competed in the annual event, showcasing the best emerging talent from four Kimberley regions.

South East's Jock Mosquito, a Hale School boarder from Kururrugku Roos, was named carnival MVP after an impressive carnival.

Douglas Evans won the champion East Kimberley team's MVP award, Bailey Osbourne was the best for the West and Ikeem Brown was the standout for Central.

Claremont talent manager Lachlan Davis was in Broome to present the awards and was impressed by the talent on display.

East's Carl Rex, who was named in the State 16s squad, West's Liam Unicomb who's part of Claremont's WAFL Futures program, were some of the other names to feature.

Fittingly, former Kimberley Colts Carnival representative Kye Pindan, from Looma in the West Kimberley, made his EGT WAFL Colts debut for Claremont on the same weekend.

Pindan dominated last year's carnival before getting picked for the Kimberley Colts team at the 2025 Nutrien Ag Country Championships where he earned All-Star selection.

The best players from this year's carnival will get the opportunity to represent the Kimberley Spirit in next month's Country Championships in the CBH Colts Division 2 from July 10-11 in the Perth and Peel regions.
