South Fremantle leads the way with seven representatives selected to represent WA at the upcoming 2025 Marsh AFL National Championships – U18 Girls.

A 32-player squad has been named for the Championships, with many players striving to be recruited to an AFLW club later this year.

Some of the state’s leading draft hopes include Olivia Wolmarans, Olivia Crane, Mia Russo, Evie Cowcher and Alicia Blizard.

Trent Cooper, Manager Female Talent Programs and Coaching Specialist at WA Football, has high hopes for the group.

“The squad is probably the most balanced one WA has produced,” Cooper said.

“We have a good mix of returning players with some exciting new prospects and the connection within the group is the best I have seen at this level.”

Form during the WAFLW season was critical in picking the squad.

 “Players were selected into our Summer Program based on potential but selection into the National Champs Squad is based on form displayed in the WAFLW competition with input from AFLW recruiters,” he said.

 WA begins its campaign against Queensland on Sunday, June 22 and will round out preparations this weekend.

“We are playing Claremont’s WAFLW side on Saturday as a trial game before we take on Queensland in Melbourne the following weekend,” Cooper said.

“Queensland are touted as having three top five draft picks in their squad so they will present a strong challenge that the team are really looking forward to taking on.”
