The New Holland WA Women’s State Country side has been locked in ahead of Friday night’s clash against Perth Football League at Gosnells Oval.
Unbeaten Great Northern Football League powerhouse Chapman Valley has a whopping five players in the squad, led by reigning league best-and-fairest winner Andie Payne.
The State captain is also from the GNFL, Towns’ Jessica Giudice-Nairn who will feature alongside her teammate Olivia Bidwell.
Giudice-Nairn, who was vice-captain last season, is one of nine returning players from last year’s thrilling draw against the PFL.
Four others leagues will be represented with players from the South West, Peel, West Kimberley and Great Southern also included.
Busselton product Rennie Meadmore will return for a second year as Head Coach.
It will be Meadmore’s fifth year involved with the WA Country program, including three as a player.
Meadmore was excited by the versatility of the squad, which includes a mix of returning players and fresh faces.
“I feel like we’ve really versatile,” she explained.
“We’ve got a lot of players who are able to float everywhere around the ground.”
Meadmore said motivation was high, with the team desperate to go one better after coming away with a draw last year.
“With a draw last year, we are even more motivated to get the win in Perth,” she said.
The New Holland WA Women’s State Country squad will arrive in Perth on Thursday and get more than 24 hours together ahead of the game.
“Really thankful that we get over 24 hours together as squad,” Meadmore said.
“The girls arrive on Thursday and we will catch up on Thursday evening before getting a full team day on the Friday.”
The game kicks off at 7.15pm on Friday 20 June, with the inaugural Perth Football League EGT Colts North v South Clash on from 5.30pm.
Entry costs just a gold coin donation, with all proceeds going to A Stitch In Time.
