Western Australia will be looking to build on their breakthrough win over Vic Metro when they conclude their AFLW National U18 Championship against the Allies in Sydney on Saturday.
The Black Swans will debut two promising WAFLW talents as they hunt back-to-back victories after a hard-fought win over the Vics at home last round.
South Fremantle’s Eva Flynn, a crafty forward/wing with a lethal left foot, has been included alongside line-breaking Perth rebounding defender Addison Opalinski.
“Eva has been in good form for South Fremantle so we’re looking forward to seeing what she can do,” WA Football’s Female Talent Manager Trent Cooper said.
“We feel Addison will provide some strength and run off half-back.”
Cooper was delighted to see WA get a much-deserved win after coming agonisingly close against Queensland in the carnival opener last month.
He believes confidence will be high among the group as they take on the Allies in what’s expected to be a tight contest.
“Confidence is the key because we’ve played really well in the first two games without winning,” Cooper reflected.
“To get that result last game is a reward for all the hard work and important heading into the final game.”
Cooper praised the consistency of Swan Districts midfielder Carys D'Addario, who's stormed into first-round AFLW Draft calculations.
D'Addario is averaging 22 disposals and six tackles across the championships.
The defensive work of Demon Sienna Timmermans has also been impressive.
“Carys has been our most consistent performer across all three games and clubs are taking notice,” Cooper said.
“Sienna Timmermans has been given some big defensive jobs on very good players including a couple of first-round draft prospects.
“I’m sure clubs would’ve noticed her performances across the carnival.”
The WA versus the Allies clash kicks off at 10am WST on Saturday morning.
The game will be streamed live on the AFL Match Centre
