Players to watch at Nutrien Ag Solutions Women's Country Football ChampionshipsWednesday, October 1, 2025 - 9:34 PM - by Jordan McArdle

We take a look at the players to watch at the 2025 Nutrien Ag Solutions Women's Country Football Championships, which kicks off in Bunbury on Thursday morning.

Ella Smith (South West)

Ella Smith is a seriously talented player who made it as far as the AFLW, tallying five games in two seasons with West Coast.

Smith also won a Dhara Kerr Medal as the WAFLW’s fairest-and-best player during her time at Claremont.

More recently, she’s become a star of the South West Football League for Donnybrook, sharing the competition’s fairest-and-best award – the Nola Marino Medal – with Bunbury’s Kloe Bassett this season.

Smith also won the best-on-ground medal in the New Holland WA Country State Women’s Team’s one-point victory over Perth Football League earlier in the year and will captain the defending Division One champs.

Drew Epis and Paris Ulijin (Goldfields)

This pair of Railways sharpshooters combined for a whopping 93 goals in the Goldfields Football League Women’s competition this season.

The forward duo were a massive reason behind Railways’ premiership with Epis finishing on 48 majors and Ulijin on 45.

If the Goldfields are to jump back into the top flight, expect these two to be at the forefront.

Kat Slattery (Great Southern)

The former Hockeyroos played 91 games for her country, but has since put together quite the country football resume.

Slattery is no stranger to the Country Football WA Women’s Country Championships, having won the best-afield medal in last year’s Division Two decider for the Great Southern.

She was also selected in the All-Stars team before getting picked for the New Holland WA Country State Women’s this year.

Kate Ditchburn (Kimberley)

Ditchburn is an accomplished player at WAFLW level, highlighted by a premiership with Peel Thunder back in 2020.

She’s also been a stalwart of women’s football in the Kimberley, having played for Looma Lady Eagles since the competition’s inception and winning multiple best-on-ground medals in grand finals.

Beth Beckett (South West)

The Busselton star has an impressive footy CV, highlighted by a WAFLW fairest-and-best award at East Fremantle.

She also played in three consecutive WAFLW grand finals for the Sharks, including a premiership in her fairest-and-best year in 2023.

After 45 WAFLW appearances, Beckett returned to Busselton this season.

Ebonee Hardie (Peel)

Hardie was one of Peel's best and most consistent players in last year's women's champs on her way to All-Star selection.

She's also got plenty of experience at WAFLW level, having tallied 24 games between 2021-23, and starred in Secret Harbour's recent Peel Football Netball League Women's grand final victory over South Mandurah.
