It was a season to forget for the Black Ducks, who fell from a third-placed finish last season to third last in 2025.
Swan Districts dropped from 11 wins down to just six this season, after enduring a rough 0-5 start to the year.
After losing young spearhead Tom Edwards to Essendon as an AFL Supplemental-Selection Period Signing, Swans struggled to find avenues to goal outside of star key forward Leigh Kohlmann, who was a positive for his side this season, booting 32 goals, good enough for equal sixth in the competition.
Club stalwart and WAFL champion Tony Notte announced his retirement after round 12, bringing an end to two-time Swan Medal winner’s record-breaking 322-game career. Aidan Clarke has also decided to step away from the game, leaving spots for some new players to fill those voids.
Swan Districts managed to blood debutants in Ethyn Kane, Chase Loftus, Brodyn Fitzgerald, Leon Kickett, Otis Harvey, Luke Cotellessa and Tylah Williams, providing options as the club looks to reset going into next season.
Swans will also hope to get full seasons out of important pieces Zane Trew, Brandon Erceg, Joshua Cipro and Will Collins.
There were a few standout performers amongst the group despite the poor on-field results, including superstar Jesse Turner who won a career-high 30.7 disposals per game. The captain was named in the WAFL State Team for the fourth consecutive year.
Jehb O’Donohue, Jye Chalcraft and Bryce Watson all impressed throughout the year, while Jackson McLachlan notched up his 50th game and Anthony Stephens, Aidan Clarke and Jiah Reidy each celebrated their 100th games.
The club welcomed back ex-Swans Jacob Coniglio, Zane Trew and Connor Blakely, but the trio combined for just 9 games at League level.
Third-year head coach Andrew Pruyn’s record now sits at 25-28-1, with one year remaining on his contract, and will hope to climb up the ladder in 2026 with the list having a clean bill of health, some rejuvenated youth and stars back on the park.
Swan Districts captain Jess Turner won his third Swan Medal, taking the honour by just one vote from Jye Chalcraft.
