Falcons talent Farrow invited to opening round of AFL DraftMonday, November 10, 2025 - 10:09 AM - by Jordan McArdle

West Perth young gun Jacob Farrow is firming to be the first West Australian picked in the AFL National Draft after earning an invitation to attend the first round in Melbourne next Wednesday.

The talented Falcons midfielder/half-back is one of 12 players from around Australia selected by the AFL for the opening round of the draft.

The Under-18s All-Australian, who also featured three times for West Perth’s seniors, is almost certain to be selected in the first round.

The AFL is expected to add at least another couple of invitations closer to the draft as clubs firm on their top targets, with 18 invited last year.

Farrow’s West Perth teammate Sam Swadling, Swan Districts pair Tylah Williams and Leon Kickett and South Fremantle midfielder and State 18s captain Fred Rodriguez are among the other West Aussies expected to be picked in the first couple of rounds of the draft.

WA Football State Talent Manager Adam Jones is hopeful of getting as many as a dozen West Aussies picked up in the AFL national and rookie drafts next week.

Jones said he expected to see 8-12 WA players realise their AFL dreams across the National Draft on November 19-20 and Rookie Draft on November 21.

“I actually think the numbers are going to be pretty close. The draft range I’m hoping for is between 8-12,” Jones said last month.

“If we get anything above 10, it’s going to be a fantastic result, and I think we’re on track for that. Some great results this weekend will certainly help that.”
