2025 Design A Jumper Winners RevealedMonday, December 1, 2025 - 3:25 PM

Spring Hill Primary School in Tapping and Narembeen District High School in the central wheatbelt will be running out in new football jumpers next season after taking out their respective categories in the 2025 Design a Jumper Competition.

Several high-quality entries were received from around Western Australia this year.

The winning schools in the metropolitan and regional categories have been presented with a full set of new football jumpers in their winning designs.

WA Football School Programs & Competitions Coordinator Ben Cribb has declared the competition an outstanding success.

“This initiative has been embraced by schools across the state, and its popularity continues to grow,” Cribb said.

“It is a great way for children in the classroom to link with Australian Football, while providing students an opportunity to showcase their artistic side.”

Cribb also thanked ISC, which sponsored the competition for the first time.

The Spring Hill Primary School jumper was designed by Year 6 student Azalea Keating.

“I would like to teach people about the Yonga (Kangaroo) and its importance to the Aboriginal people,” Azalea said.

“The Yonga is a native animal to Australia, providing warmth, food and holds spiritual meaning for cultural connection.

“The Yonga represents a football players speed, agility, quick reactions, and strength on the football field.

“The stars symbolise how Torres Strait Islanders use the constellation in the sky for way finding, while sailing the ocean.

Year 6 Narembeen District High School student Benji Mortimore explained the origin of the jumper he designed.

“The reason for the hawk is because it resembles our town mascot,” Benji said.

“As for why wheat features on the jumper, it is because a lot of people in our town are farmers and they harvest wheat.”

Spring Hill Primary School and Azalea wore the jumper at the recent Freo Dockers Cup Carnival, which the school went on to win.

The Design a Jumper Competition will return in 2026, and students are encouraged to take part.
