WE had some big goalkicking hauls in losing efforts in Round 12 of the WAFL including seven goals from Andrew Stephen and five from Callum Papertalk, while Clancy Wheeler booted five in a Subiaco win and Shane Nelson had 40 possessions in a West Perth triumph. Round 12 of the WAFL saw three games take place on Saturday afternoon with Peel Thunder cementing its spot inside the top five holding on to beat the second placed South Fremantle 13.5 (83) to 11.11 (77) at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. Mundella WA State U23s fall short in close battles

The Mundella WA State Under 23s team played in two very closely fought battles against Queensland in the NAB AFL Women’s Under 23 games held in Brisbane on June 9 and 11. In the first clash held at Leyshon Park in Yeronga, the WA side showed resilience and determination for the entirety of the match, but Queensland proved to be too strong and ran out winners with a score of 5.9 (39) to WA’s 2.5 (17). THERE were two thrillers in the WAFL in Round 12 on Saturday with Peel Thunder and Claremont withstanding stirring fightbacks by South Fremantle and East Fremantle respectively while Subiaco had a comfortable win over Perth before West Perth beat Swan Districts on Sunday. Three of the four Round 12 WAFL matches took place on Saturday afternoon and two of them were decided by under a goal in the finish. Claremont was unveiling its redeveloped home of Claremont Oval playing its first game at the venue since the 2013 preliminary final, and the Tigers returned to the winner's list but only just. DEPPRO WA State 18s win a thriller

The DEPPRO WA State 18s opened their NAB AFL National 18s Championship campaign with a thrilling golden-point win at Domain Stadium on Saturday. After building a 31-point lead in the first three quarters, WA saw the margin cut back with five consecutive goals to South Australia before East Perth's Matt Young marked inside 50 and kicked a point to seal the win in extra time. Double century another accolade for Falcon Strijk

IT has been quite the few weeks for Andrew Strijk with the West Perth star kicking a career-best five goals, helping the WAFL make history in Melbourne and now he celebrates his 200th game for the Falcons on Sunday. Strijk will reach the 200-game milestone with West Perth in what is shaping as a season-defining game on Sunday against Swan Districts at Steel Blue Oval. Both teams go into the game on 6-3 records so the winner will put themselves in a strong position heading into the second half of the season, while the loser will be left fighting for their spot inside the top five. Life member Phelan eyes pre-finals Subiaco return

GUN Subiaco midfielder Chris Phelan's 150th game turned into him fearing his career could be over rather much of a celebration, but he was relieved to learn he didn’t require a knee reconstruction and is eying a return before the finals. Phelan had injured a rib in Subiaco's 39-point win over South Fremantle at Leederville Oval back in Round 9 that just happened to be the 150th game of his good mate Kyal Horsley. That left him in doubt to get up the next week to play East Fremantle at the same venue to reach the 150-game milestone himself to earn life membership at Subiaco. Read More ...

CLAREMONT Oval reopens for business while Subiaco looks to stay clear on top and there's a preliminary final rematch in Saturday's Round 12 WAFL action leading into a battle for third spot between Swan Districts and West Perth on Sunday. There are three matches on Saturday afternoon in Round 12 of the WAFL including a rematch from last year's preliminary final with South Fremantle taking on Peel Thunder at Fremantle Community Bank Oval. Mundella WA U23s to clash with Queensland

The final Mundella WA State Under 23s squad has been named ahead of the side’s NAB AFL Women’s U23 games against Queensland in Brisbane on June 9 and 11. WA take on Queensland in the first game of the series on Friday, June 9 at 4.30pm (WST) at Leyshon Park in Yeronga and the second match will be played on Sunday, June 11 at Ord Minnett Oval, Broadbeach. The team will be led by Mundella State 23s Head Coach Nikki Harwood, who is from East Fremantle and Assistant Coach for Collingwood in the AFLW, and Captain Courtney Ugle. Read More ...


Tigers return to state-of-the-art clubroom facility

It’s been a long time coming for the Tigers and after three and a half years playing at Claremont Showgrounds, the Claremont Football Club returns to its traditional home ground of 127 years this Saturday in the clash against East Fremantle. Wealth of experience added to WAFL Tribunal

Four experienced legal professionals have been appointed to the West Australian Football League (WAFL) Tribunal to provide additional resources and support. The appointments will allow multiple members to adjudicate serious cases and appeals, while also spreading the workload for these valuable volunteers over the course of a season. The additional members also allow the WAFL Tribunal’s scope to be expanded to hear West Australian Women’s Football League (WAWFL) cases and forms part of a WAFL Tribunal succession plan.
