West Perth came from behind and had to withstand 45 possessions from Clint Jones to beat Perth 12.12 (84) to 6.7 (43) at HBF Arena while Peel Thunder won a nail-biter 11.7 (73) to 9.16 (70) over East Fremantle at Bendigo Bank Stadium. SUBIACO has made it two from two to start the 2016 McDonald's WAFL Premiership Season beating East Perth in the annual Good Friday clash at Medibank Stadium. Another strong crowd of 3000 people turned out for the now traditional clash between the Leederville co-tenants and whilst East Perth was vastly improved on last week, Subiaco still proved too strong winning 13.15 (93) to 9.8 (62). PERTH has made some big changes over summer to try and get back in the WAFL finals mix and now coach Earl Spalding is just hoping for an encouraging start against West Perth on Saturday following the Round 1 bye. It hasn’t been a couple of years to remember for Perth with two straight wooden spoons and with the Demons having only won two of their last 34 matches, but there is plenty of reasons for optimism that 2016 will be a season of marked improvement at Lathlain Park.
