Good Friday WAFL Results

OVER 5000 fans turned out to support Good Friday WAFL football with two games played with Subiaco beating East Perth and East Fremantle defeating Peel Thunder. The Good Friday WAFL action began at Mandurah's Bendigo Bank Stadium with Peel and East Fremantle fighting out a contest that had little separating the teams most of the day, but the Sharks ended up prevailing 12.14 (86) to 10.8 (68). Meanwhile at Leederville's Medibank Stadium, a terrific crowd of 3440 turned out as a game of fluctuating fortunes ended with Subiaco beating East Perth 16.10 (106) to 12.10 (82). Read More ...


WAFL Round 5 Preview

IT IS a massive round of WAFL football split across three days over the Easter Weekend with two games on Good Friday, one on Saturday and one on Sunday. The round begins on Good Friday with Peel Thunder hosting East Fremantle at Mandurah's Bendigo Bank Stadium and then at Medibank Stadium in Leederville, Subiaco does battle with East Perth. The standalone fixture on Saturday sees West Perth host South Fremantle at Arena Joondalup, and then on Easter Sunday Perth will take on Swan Districts at Lathlain Park. Read More ...


Things all starting to click for Lions early in 2014

TERRIFIC recruiting, a stronger leadership group, better ball use and a forward-line more potent and that is kicking straight are all major reasons why Subiaco coach Jarrad Schofield has overseen an unbeaten start to the 2014 WAFL season for the Lions. Subiaco unexpectedly made the 2011 grand final before losing to Claremont but then struggled in 2012 winning just seven games, and then also struggled last year in Schofield's first year in charge winning just the six matches. However, everything is clicking so far in 2014 with Subiaco having recorded wins over South Fremantle, East Fremantle, Claremont and Peel Thunder to be sitting on top of the ladder as the last remaining undefeated team heading into the traditional Good Friday clash with East Perth. “Count Me In” Integrated Youth Football Program

A new integrated football program is kicking off in the Subiaco Football District with a ‘Come and Try’ clinic at the Kingsway Junior Football Club on April 23. WEST Perth made history while handing East Perth its first loss, East Fremantle bounced back emphatically, Subiaco remained unbeaten and Swan Districts continued its impressive start in Round 4 WAFL action on Saturday. East Fremantle thrashed Claremont 21.11 (137) to 9.8 (62) at East Fremantle Oval with West Perth beating East Perth 22.17 (149) to 7.7 (49) at Leederville's Medibank Stadium, Subiaco downed Peel Thunder 16.9 (105) to 13.10 (88) at Mandurah's Bendigo Bank Stadium and Swan Districts defeated South Fremantle 13.16 (94) to 11.15 (81) at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval. WEST Perth emphatically won its grand final rematch over East Perth on Saturday while Swan Districts continued its winning form, Subiaco remained unbeaten and East Fremantle bounced back with a big win coming off the bye. ROUND 3 of the 2014 WAFL season featured a fourth-gamer finishing with an eight-goal haul while the reigning premiers got off the mark, and Subiaco and East Perth recorded big wins to remain unbeaten. The round began on Friday night under lights at Fremantle Oval with East Perth beating South Fremantle 20.8 (128) to 8.5 (53). Then on Saturday afternoon, Subiaco beat Claremont 18.22 (130) to 6.14 (50) at East Fremantle Oval, Swan Districts defeated Peel Thunder 16.18 (114) to 11.13 (79) at Bassendean's Steel Blue Oval and West Perth downed Perth 15.13 (103) to 13.7 (85) at Arena Joondalup.
