Round 10 Optus WAFLW Preview

ROUND 10 of the WAFLW season sees the two matches for the weekend split over Saturday and Sunday afternoons with Claremont and East Fremantle battling over second spot, and Peel Thunder attempting to upset Subiaco. With the ladder so tight in the inaugural 2019 Optus WAFL Women's Premiership Season, every game is taking on extra significance with just one game separating the top four teams while it will only take a winning streak for the Thunder to close the gap as well to put themselves in the mix. The competitiveness so far in the opening nine rounds of the WAFLW season has backed in the decision to limit the inaugural campaign to the five teams to condense the talent, and it's creating for some high-quality football and plenty of unpredictable contests every weekend. Round 14 Optus WAFL Preview

ROUND 14 is spread over Saturday and Sunday this weekend with two matches each at Leederville Oval and Mineral Resources Park highlighted by a top-of-the-table battle between Subiaco and Claremont, and third spot fight between Perth and South Fremantle. All five matches in Round 14 of the 2019 Optus WAFL Premiership Season have plenty on the line as well whether it's a clash between the top two or bottom two teams, with third and fourth also locking horns, along with the four teams fighting over fifth spot all playing one another. Optus WAFLW Round 9 Wrap

THINGS are getting decidedly interesting in the Optus WAFL Women's competition with wins for Swan Districts and East Fremantle in Round 9 on Saturday meaning that the top four teams are only separated by one match. Subiaco had looked like a runaway leader in this inaugural WAFLW season, but with their loss to Swan Districts on Saturday all of a sudden things are remarkably tight following nine rounds of the campaign. Both Round 9 WAFLW matches on Saturday were played to celebrate NAIDOC Week as well, paying tribute to Aboriginal culture and the Indigenous contribution to the game. Round 13 Colts Wrap

THE 2019 WAFL Colts competition is taking shape in fascinating fashion with Peel Thunder remaining clear in top spot but then West Perth, Swan Districts, East Perth and Claremont jostling for spots, and reigning premiers Subiaco breathing down the necks. The first colts contest of the round took place at Claremont Oval and it was Claremont who kept themselves comfortably in fifth position by defeating the bottom place South Fremantle 13.10 (88) to 5.4 (34). TABtouch Team of NAIDOC Round

NAIDOC Round in the WAFL on Saturday not only saw the competition pay tribute to the contribution of the Aboriginal culture, but also saw five fascinating match ups with Subiaco and Claremont surging ahead while West Perth, West Coast Eagles and East Perth won important games. All five matches took on greater significance as the race for the finals heats up in the WAFL in Round 13 action and there were a host of standout individual performances to go along with the big results from a team perspective. AFLW WA defeat Central Allies in Southport

2019 Landmark Country Football Championships

The 55th Landmark Country Football Championships will take place in Perth this week with 18 sides from country WA taking to the field across four divisions.   Action starts tomorrow Thursday, July 11 at Rushton Park, Mandurah, with the CBH Group Colts Division. Reigning champions South West will be aiming for a fourth consecutive Colts title as they compete against Peel, Regional Districts, Great Southern Storm and the Northern Suns. AFLW WA suffer loss to Vic Metro

Optus WAFL NAIDOC Round Wrap

SOME wet weather returned for WAFL NAIDOC Round on Saturday but with pressure for finals spots heating up, the five matches produced some fascinating results with Subiaco and Claremont now clear in top two spots leaving South Fremantle and Perth locked in a battle for third. With Subiaco and Claremont again winning impressively in their NAIDOC Round clashes with East Fremantle and South Fremantle respectively, they are now the two standout teams in the top two positions at present. South Fremantle and Perth both suffered losses on Saturday ahead of their meeting this coming Saturday night which could well end up deciding which of them is more likely to at least finish the home and away season in third position. Round 9 Optus WAFLW Preview

THE WAFL Women's competition will also be celebrating NAIDOC Round this weekend and there's plenty at stake with Peel Thunder hosting East Fremantle, and Swan Districts taking on Subiaco on Saturday. The two games of Round 9 of the 2019 Optus WAFLW Premiership Season will take place on Saturday and it will be held in celebration of NAIDOC Week. All four teams will be celebrating Aboriginal culture and Indigenous heritage and contributions to football on the occasion too with the competing clubs wearing specially designed jumpers. They will be adorned with Aboriginal artwork while the umpires will also be decked out in specially designed uniforms as well while the Burley footballs used will feature special artwork as well in commemoration of the occasion.
