AFLW WA suffer loss to Vic Metro

Optus WAFL NAIDOC Round Wrap

SOME wet weather returned for WAFL NAIDOC Round on Saturday but with pressure for finals spots heating up, the five matches produced some fascinating results with Subiaco and Claremont now clear in top two spots leaving South Fremantle and Perth locked in a battle for third. With Subiaco and Claremont again winning impressively in their NAIDOC Round clashes with East Fremantle and South Fremantle respectively, they are now the two standout teams in the top two positions at present. South Fremantle and Perth both suffered losses on Saturday ahead of their meeting this coming Saturday night which could well end up deciding which of them is more likely to at least finish the home and away season in third position. Round 9 Optus WAFLW Preview

THE WAFL Women's competition will also be celebrating NAIDOC Round this weekend and there's plenty at stake with Peel Thunder hosting East Fremantle, and Swan Districts taking on Subiaco on Saturday. The two games of Round 9 of the 2019 Optus WAFLW Premiership Season will take place on Saturday and it will be held in celebration of NAIDOC Week. All four teams will be celebrating Aboriginal culture and Indigenous heritage and contributions to football on the occasion too with the competing clubs wearing specially designed jumpers. They will be adorned with Aboriginal artwork while the umpires will also be decked out in specially designed uniforms as well while the Burley footballs used will feature special artwork as well in commemoration of the occasion. IT is NAIDOC Round in the WAFL and with all five games providing a celebration of Aboriginal heritage and what it means to football in Western Australia, all five matches will have plenty at stake as the second half of the 2019 season heats up. Right across the five matches in Round 13 of the 2019 Optus WAFL Premiership Season, all 10 competing teams will be wearing specially designed Aboriginal jumpers as part of the celebration of NAIDOC Week. PEEL Thunder has shot clear on top of the WAFL Colts for 2019 following a win over Swan Districts on Saturday while there were also Round 12 victories for East Perth, Claremont and West Perth. Peel and Swan Districts have been the two standout teams so far in the colts season for 2019, but now it is the Thunder who have pulled away two be two games and significant percentage clear on top of the ladder after 12 rounds. Optus WAFLW Round 8 Wrap

WITH the league-leading Subiaco having the bye, it was a chance for the other four teams to sort themselves out in the WAFL Women's competition and it ended up providing a tight East Fremantle win and big win for Claremont in Round 8. Round 8 of the inaugural WAFLW Optus Premiership Season took place with both games taking place on Sunday afternoon with the league's runaway leading team, Subiaco, having the bye after winning of their opening six matches in 2019. Both games on Sunday afternoon were then always going to be fascinating and that's how it played out with East Fremantle narrowly defeating Swan Districts 5.7 (37) to 4.5 (29) at East Fremantle's New Choices Homes Park. THERE were plenty of standout individual performances across the five Round 12 WAFL matches on Saturday including Michael Sinclair, Kyal Horsley, Josh Smith, Blair Bell and Declan Mountford instrumental in wins for Perth, Subiaco, West Coast Eagles, Peel Thunder and Claremont. All five matches in Round 12 took place on Saturday afternoon and as we move deeper into the second half of the season, every game is taking on greater significance as the battle for final positions heats up.
