This dream recently became a reality for the Darlington Junior Football player when he got given the opportunity to train with AFL umpires. TRENT Manzone and Keifer Yu celebrate 100-game milestones with their respective clubs in crucial games for West Perth and Claremont in Round 20 of the WAFL on Saturday with Perth, East Perth and Peel Thunder all needing to win too as the race to the finals heats up. It's the second last round of the 2018 WAFL season and while the top three positions appear locked away and Swan Districts and East Fremantle anchored to the bottom two spots, East Perth, Claremont, Perth and Peel Thunder remain in a battle over the remaining finals positions. Ugle earns universal respect on way to 100 games

THE journey of Kirk Ugle to play AFL and WAFL football was far from conventional and the challenges in his life have been vast, but that makes his 100-game milestone all that more meaningful especially because he got to share it with his family and long-time teammates. After all, he has now played 100 games with Swan Districts, the club which means the world to him and that is where he got his start in top-level football at and has been his home away from home since returning from his time with Collingwood. LUKE Partington was one of a host of East Perth players to have a field day in Saturday's thumping of East Fremantle and as a result he's been named the M & J Chickens Player of Round 19. East Perth needed to win coming into Saturday's clash with the bottom placed East Fremantle at Leederville Oval to return to the top five coming off a loss to Peel Thunder, and they sure did respond in the most emphatic fashion possible. The Royals kicked their biggest score of the season to come away with the 114-point victory that saw them return to fourth position on the WAFL ladder with two rounds of the season to go which sees them take on West Perth this Saturday and then Peel Thunder in the final round again. TABtouch Team of Round 19

THINGS really heated up across Round 19 of the WAFL as East Perth and Claremont replaced Perth and Peel Thunder in the top five in an afternoon of action that included a seven-goal haul, three players racking up 40 or more possessions and another 12 racking up 30 or more. It was the third last round of the 2018 WAFL season and coming into it with eight teams still in contention to reach finals, that meant that every game took on greater significance. All four of the matches took place on Saturday afternoon as well with all eyes on Lathlain Park awaiting to see who out of Perth and Claremont would end the round having enhanced their finals hopes. Round 19 Colts Wrap

SUBIACO has now all but locked away the WAFL colts minor premiership after beating West Perth in Round 19 on Saturday while East Fremantle consolidated third position, South Fremantle fifth place and Claremont kept its slim finals hopes alive. Every team in the competition was still capable of reaching the finals entering the Round 19 action in the WAFL colts on Saturday morning, but losses for West Perth and East Perth have all but ruled them out of contention with Perth and Claremont just clinging to remaining in touch. All four of the matches in Round 19 took place on Saturday morning with Subiaco moving two games and percentage clear on top of the ladder beating West Perth 12.12 (84) to 3.5 (23) at Joondalup Arena. SUBIACO kept winning, South Fremantle went a long way to securing second spot and East Perth and Claremont both won to return to top five positions in the WAFL in Round 19 action on Saturday. With only three rounds to go until the end of the home and away season with eight teams still capable of playing finals coming into Round 19, it's fair to say the stakes were high across the four matches on Saturday afternoon. While Subiaco is guaranteed of finishing in top spot and East Fremantle can't avoid the wooden spoon for 2018, the rest of the positions inside the top five remain up for grabs. Read More ...

Wanneroo Secondary College’s Thomas Moscarda won his third consecutive annual award for Most Outstanding Secondary AFL School Ambassador when winners of the West Australian Football Commission's AFL School Ambassador Awards were announced at Claremont Oval last night (August 9). The Wanneroo Secondary College teacher was one of six winners on the night, with Nuria Ushoroff from the Australian Islamic College Kewdale claiming the other major award as Most Outstanding Primary School Ambassador.
